ABOUT US

Who Are We?

Founded in 1992, the Iowa Oncology Society (IOS) is the largest oncology professional organization in the state. IOS comprises a powerful community of oncologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary care providers involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

The Iowa Oncology Society (IOS) is a State Chapter Member with the Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) and maintains an affiliation with the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Through this collaboration, IOS members have access to valuable educational content and innovative resources that help them stay ahead of local and national challenges—ensuring patients continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve.

We collaborate with internal and external organizations to support our mission of improving patient outcomes and the treatment of cancer in the State of Iowa.

To carry out our mission, we strive to:

  • Promote the highest professional standards of oncology in Iowa
  • Study, research, and exchange information, experiences, and ideas leading to improvement in oncology
  • Identify and improve oncology practice issues that adversely affect patient access to cancer care
  • Act as a patient advocate to assure that patients have access to the best available care
  • Support and encourage clinical research against cancer

Our goals are to:

  • Advocate on state and federal legislative issues impacting patient access to care
  • Provide an education forum for our members on the current technologies and medical best practices in cancer care delivery
  • Communicate changes and updates in oncology practice to our members and the broader community.
